The 2021 BMW X3 xDrive30e is by far the most fuel-efficient version of the X3 luxury crossover, earning up to 60 MPGe and an electric-only range of 18 miles. For the sake of comparison, the gas-powered BMW X3 earns up to 29 MPG on the highway. Recharging will take about 3 hours via a level 2 charging system.
The xDrive30e is also more powerful than the core SDrive30i and xDrive30i models. A 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine and battery-fed electric motor work in unison to produce a total of 288 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The intelligent all-wheel-drive system features three intuitive electric driving modes: Auto eDrive, Max eDrive, and Battery Control. BMW also says the xDrive30e can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
Inside, the X3 xDrive30e is driven by technology with its sizeable 10.25-inch touchscreen, plus a hybrid-specific instrument cluster that displays electric motor output, charge status, and full-electric or combined driving ranges. All versions of the X3 also feature a power tailgate, three-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and parking sensors.
